This conference is hosted by the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics (CCDD) at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and the MIDAS Coordination Center.
Dates: Monday, March 27 – Tuesday, March 28, 2023
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
The Workshop to Increase Diversity in Mathematical Modeling and Public Health is an annual event for undergraduates or students in a post baccalaureate program from underrepresented groups who have an interest in public health and/or mathematical modeling, and are studying quantitative disciplines and/or public health at their home institutions.
Over 1.5 days, students accepted to participate in this workshop will listen to scientific talks from public health researchers and trainees who use infectious disease epidemiology and mathematical modeling to solve problems in public health. They will also engage in professional development and networking opportunities, and participate in hands-on activities to practice the concepts and skills they are learning.
Students must apply and be accepted to the workshop to participate. Accepted students receive free admission to the workshop, combined with travel scholarships that cover transportation (airfare, train or bus fare to Boston) and hotel costs. More details will be provided to accepted students.
This workshop will be funded in part by contract 200-2016-91779 with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and in part by NIGMS grant U24GM132013 in support of the MIDAS Coordination Center at the University of Pittsburgh.
