Associate Professor Position in Infectious Disease Modelling Available at the University of Western Australia

We’re looking for an up-and-coming infectious disease modelling researcher to build a research team in Perth at the University of Western Australia and The Kids Research Institute Australia. You would be part of a new and rapidly growing network of ID modellers at The Kids in Perth (e.g. Melissa Penny’s group, Malaria Atlas Project, Infectious Disease Ecology and Modelling), a big collaborative network of ID modellers across Australia and New Zealand (via the ACEFA modelling consortium), excellent mathematicians and statisticians at UWA, and a whole load of infectious disease research and funding opportunities in Australia more broadly. Women and gender-minority researchers are particularly encouraged to apply.

Appeal:

  • Five-year research-focused role to build up an independent research program.
  • Financial support for visa, international relocation, and lab start up.
  • Perth is an incredible place to live, unless you hate good weather and pristine beaches.

Strings attached:

  • Some of your research will need to tackle epidemic diseases affecting Western Australia children.
  • You’ll do some course development and lecturing on a new Infectious Disease Modelling unit at UWA (to lure maths/stats/computing students into ID modelling research).

Applications close at the end of March (11:55 p.m. Perth time on April 1).

Please visit the job posting for more information and to apply.

Please feel free to contact Prof Nick Golding at nick.golding@uwa.edu.au, ideally cc’ing Natasha Stretton at natasha.stretton@uwa.edu.au.
