CSTE has released a funding opportunity announcement (FOA) to identify organizations that will develop partnerships with state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) health departments, academic and private industry groups to iteratively develop, test, evaluate, modify, and scale products to be used to support decision-making during infectious disease outbreaks. The awardees will lead the development and deployment of analytic products and tools to support decision-making during infectious disease outbreaks by completing the following objectives:
(1) Develop open-source tools and packages that facilitate modeling, forecasting, management, statistical analyses, and/or visualizations of public health data and can be deployed to STLT health departments for use to support public health decision-making during infectious disease outbreaks;
(2) Identify partner STLT health departments to pilot, evaluate, and deploy the analytic tools and provide training and technical assistance to support successful use of the tools; and
(3) Engage in an open forum network with public health professionals to address topics such as effective development and use of analytic tools, access to data sources, and intervention and mitigation strategies.
Funding for this project will be awarded through a cost-reimbursable subaward up to $250,000. Activities will be divided into Phase 1 (February 1, 2023 – July 31, 2023) and Phase 2 (August 1, 2023 – July 31, 2024), with Phase 2 being implemented pending funding availability.
Eligible applicants are public health agencies, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and private industry groups. Priority will be given to applicants who have previously produced analytic tools, such as probabilistic forecasts or mathematical models, for infectious diseases used in public health practice, especially applicants who have worked closely with federal, state, and local public health officials to collaborate in the development and sharing of these tools and products.
For more information regarding this opportunity, please view the FOA on the CSTE website. The deadline for application submission is January 6, 2023 at 11:59pm EST.
All applications will be evaluated by a review panel consisting of CSTE staff and external subject matter experts. For questions, please contact Jordan Peart at jpeart@cste.org or call the CSTE National Office at 770-458-3811.
