The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Viral Diseases has posted a vacancy announcement for a permanent GS-601-14 Epidemiologist position in the proposed Respiratory Viruses Surveillance and Prevention Branch. Duties include:
- Lead, mentor, and help build a growing team of epidemiologists, statisticians, and mathematical modelers focused on COVID-19 and other non-influenza respiratory viruses of public health importance and outbreak potential (e.g., respiratory syncytial virus, adenoviruses).
- Develop, refine, and publish methods to estimate the burden, severity, transmissibility, and seasonality of SARS-CoV-2 and other non-influenza respiratory viruses, and their associated disease syndromes to inform prevention policies and prioritize resources.
- Foster domestic and international collaborations to forecast and model the epidemiology, prevention, and control of SARS-CoV-2 and other non-influenza respiratory viruses, including evaluation of immunization and other prevention strategies (e.g., non-pharmaceutical interventions).
