2022 University of Washington Summer Institute in Statistics and Modeling in Infectious Diseases (SISMID)

The University of Washington Department of Biostatistics is again holding the annual Summer Institutes as an online format, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The goal of Summer Institutes is to strengthen the technical proficiency and career preparation of scholars from all backgrounds, especially those from groups historically underrepresented in STEM such as racial and ethnic minority groups, low income, first generation college students, veterans, and differently abled and 2SLGBTQ groups.

MIDAS member Professor M. Elizabeth Halloran is the founder and Director of the Summer Institute in Statistics and Modeling in Infectious Diseases (SISMID). SISMID consists of a series of two-and-a-half day workshops designed to introduce infectious disease researchers to modern methods of statistical analysis and mathematical modeling and to introduce statisticians and mathematical modelers to the statistical and dynamic problems posed by modern infectious disease data.

General registration and scholarship applications will open later in January 2022.

Many MIDAS members are instructors in the Summer Institutes. See the event website for testimonials, photos, and archives.
