Funding Process at NIH and Funding Opportunities at NIGMS

The MIDAS Webinar Series features research by MIDAS members, and is open to the public.

Date: Friday, May 31, 2024
Topic: Funding Process at NIH and Funding Opportunities at NIGMS

Speaker: Dr. Han Nguyen

Abstract:
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offer an array of funding programs to investigators at all career stages in fulfilling its mission of seeking fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability. This webinar will provide participants with an overview of NIH grant submission, assignment, review, and funding opportunities. Emphasis will be on discussing funding mechanisms and opportunities available through the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), which specifically supports basic research that increases understanding of biological processes and lays the foundation for advances in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. This webinar will also provide an overview of these programs at NIGMS, highlighting opportunities of particular interest to the MIDAS community.
