Abstract

Epidemic outbreaks often occur simultaneously across geographically separated regions, yet the mechanisms underlying such synchronization remain poorly understood. This talk presents a coupled multi-population epidemic framework that investigates how nonlinear disease transmission and population mobility interact to generate synchronized epidemic waves. Through bifurcation analysis and numerical simulations, we demonstrate how intrinsic oscillations emerge, how mobility drives synchronization between regions, and how heterogeneity influences epidemic coherence. The findings provide new insights into outbreak forecasting, regional disease management, and coordinated public health interventions.
