NIH Data Sharing and Management Policy of 2023:
Recommendations for the MIDAS Network

2023 NIH Data Management and Sharing policy

All research proposals submitted to the NIH are now subject to the 2023 NIH Data Management and Sharing policy. The policy encourages data sharing and requires the submission of a Data Management and Sharing Plan. NIH applicants must have a firm understanding of the new policy.

About the presenter

Helenmary Sheridan is a member of the MIDAS Coordination Center, and currently serves as a Data Services Librarian at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Helenmary’s recent research work focuses on advancing Open Scholarship (as encompassing open access, open data, open educational resources, and all other forms of openness in the scholarly and research environment) and Data Curation (via Data Catalogs and Data Curation Networks).

Helenmary is also the author the NIH Data Management & Sharing Policy guide for the University of Pittsburgh. The majority of the information in the policy guide is general information applicable to MIDAS researchers.
