Are you a student or postdoc presenting a poster or talk at an infectious disease modeling conference? The MIDAS Coordination Center offers Travel Grant Scholarships to help offset part of the cost of attending — this is partial funding, not full reimbursement of your trip.
What’s covered
Partial financial support toward transportation, registration, and/or hotel fees only. This scholarship will not cover the full cost of your travel, and does not cover membership fees, meals, or other expenses.
Who’s Eligible
- Current students or postdocs presenting a poster or talk at a conference related to infectious disease modeling
- Active MIDAS members
- Able to complete a W-9 (or W-8 for foreign nationals)
Important Information
- Apply at least three weeks before your conference — applications are reviewed on a rolling basis
- Funds are not disbursed in advance. You’ll need to submit receipts for your expenses, and your award may be adjusted down to match documented costs if they come in under the amount originally approved
- You should plan to cover any costs beyond the partial amount awarded
- Recipients are expected to share their work with the MIDAS community via a future webinar, and to acknowledge MIDAS support in their presentation or poster
- Awards are limited to once per fiscal year per recipient, to keep support spread across a broad range of institutions
