Achla Marathe

Bio

Achla Marathe is a professor at the Biocomplexity Institute and at the Department of Public Health Sciences, School of Medicine, at the University of Virginia. Marathe is also a member of the Network Systems Science and Advanced Computing division at the Biocomplexity Institute. Her work has been funded by various agencies such as NIH, NSF, DOE, DoD, IARPA, USAID, and UNITAID. Marathe is a multi-PI on an NIH R01 that quantifies the potential risks of under-vaccinated spatial clusters for highly infectious diseases using techniques in agent-based modeling, machine learning, spatial statistics, and simulations. Under the BOHEMIA (Broad One Health Endectocide-based Malaria Intervention in Africa) project, she examines the cost-effectiveness of malaria control strategies in Mozambique and Kenya.
