Bio

Asal received her Ph.D. in economics from Virginia Tech. Her research focuses on health economics, econometrics, public health, and health policy evaluations. Her current research includes:1) analyzing various aspects of socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19 pandemic in the US such as racial disparity in COVID-19 outcomes, mental health, etc.; 2) assessing the costeffectiveness of insomnia interventions; and 3) Analyzing risky health behaviors to reduce the cancer burden in Virginia. Asal holds a M.S. in socioeconomics systems engineering from Sharif University and a B.Sc. in applied mathematics from Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran
