Bio

I am a biologist (B.Sc.) and microbiologist (B. Sc. and M. Sc.) educated at Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá. Since the beginning of my studies, I strived to understand nature emphasising on biostatistics. In my bachelor thesis, I used public databases to model ecological variables and evaluate their impact on amphibian immune response after infection with multiresistant bacteria (particularly S. aureus, S. typhi and E. coli). Building on these results, my master thesis focused on finding new molecules for the treatment of Methicillin-Resistant S. aureus and assessing their antibacterial and immunomodulatory potential. Now, I am a PhD student from the Health Data Science program at Charité, Berlin. My project emphasises understanding the mechanisms of the seasonality of infectious diseases.
