Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Southern California

Dr. Ajitesh Srivastava, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Southern California is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with him on the intersection of epidemics, mathematical modeling, and machine learning. The candidate will contribute to the development of novel methods in infectious disease forecasting, projections, understanding, and evaluation. The candidate will have the opportunity to present their work to experts in epidemiology and public health through regular meetings in collaborative efforts such as US COVID-19 Forecast Hub and US COVID-19 Scenario Modeling Hub

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning/statistics, time-series and regression, and experience with epidemic modeling and forecasting. Additionally, interest or experience in any combination of the following is encouraged – estimation, ensemble learning, transfer learning, graph neural networks, and social media mining. A PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, Statistics, Quantitative Biology, or other relevant areas is required.

Job Accountabilities: (1) Research in the above stated areas. (2) Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. (3) Attending and presenting in group meetings and meetings with collaborators. (4) Contributing to research papers, reports, and proposals.
