Seeking Experts in Modeling, Epidemiology, and Public Health to Offer Feedback on Decisioncast

What will happen with flu in the next couple of months? I have all the information but it’s all over the place! I wish I could collect my colleagues’ opinions about a topic fast, unbiased, and in the form of an intuitive forecast. If these phrases have crossed your mind then you may be able to help shape an upcoming digital platform—DECISIONCAST—tailored towards public health decision makers that aims to (1) collate a diverse number of data sources in one place and (2) collect and combine your colleagues thoughts and opinions in the form of forecasts from questions that you pose.

We would like to invite public health officials, infectious disease clinicians, infectious disease modelers and epidemiologists with experience addressing respiratory illnesses to participate in a study about data needs and priorities for DECISIONCAST specific to seasonal influenza. Your contributions will inform DECISIONCAST’s design and features to improve evidence-informed decisions and policies related to addressing seasonal influenza in the United States.

If interested, your participation will entail three rounds of data collection, lasting approximately 3 hours total, conducted via on-line via surveys and one on-line focus group in Fall, 2024. Data collection will be carried out between September 20th and November 25, 2024. All information you share will be confidential. Participants will receive $50 compensation for each round of data collection, and be provided a report with key study findings in early Spring 2025.

This research is being led by Drs. Thomas McAndrew and Rochelle Frounfelker at Lehigh University, and Dr. Shaun Truelove at Johns Hopkins University (NSF 2420933).

If interested, please email decisioncast@lehigh.edu with questions and to request informed consent documents for your review. This study is completely voluntary. If you would like more information or have any questions, please let us know.

Thank you for considering sharing your experience, time, and knowledge with us.
