The Summer Institute in Statistics and Modeling in Infectious Diseases (SISMID) will continue for several more years, thanks to an R25 grant awarded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). MIDAS member Professor Betz Halloran is the Director and Founder of SISMID.
SISMID is designed to introduce infectious disease researchers to modern methods of statistical analysis and mathematical modeling and to introduce statisticians and mathematical modelers to the statistical and dynamic problems posed by modern infectious disease data. SISMID is organized by the University of Washington Biostatistics Department.
This year, all courses were held online due to the ongoing pandemic. The MIDAS Coordination Center supported 20 MIDAS students to attend courses at SISMID. Many SISMID instructors are also MIDAS members.
