The 2024 Western States Modeling Symposium is Seeking Abstracts

We are pleased to invite abstract submissions for the 3rd Annual Western States Modeling Symposium (WSMS), to be held virtually on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. The symposium is a venue to share modeling projects and insights relevant to applied public health among public health modelers, biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and other data scientists who work in Western States (AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, NV, OR, WA). We invite talks on public health modeling of infectious diseases (e.g., respiratory viruses, vector-borne diseases, enteric diseases, sexually transmitted infections, etc.) as well as opioid overdoses, climate impacts, and economic trade-offs, among other potential topics. Academics working in close collaboration with public health departments are also welcome to submit. Presentations for accepted abstracts will be ten minutes each, with five minutes for questions.

Submission Deadline: August 9, 2024

Submitters will be notified of results by August 23, 2024, and the program will be finalized by September 6, 2024. Abstract submission via this form is preferred. If you are unable to submit via the form please email your abstract to: modeling@cdph.ca.gov.

Abstract submission should at minimum include presentation title, a one-paragraph unstructured abstract (limited to 2000 characters including spaces), contact information for the presenting author (name and email), as well as any scheduling conflicts we should know about.
