Gema Vidal has been working with livestock since 2002 in Spain, USA, Nicaragua, and Ethiopia. After completing her clinical internship (UF) and residency (UC Davis), she started her PhD in Epidemiology. Gema has been involved in international projects since 2013, including USAID projects such as Pakistan CAS, Livestock Systems Innovation Lab REACH YSM, and Emerging Pandemic Threats PREDICT 2. She has a unique background that combines extensive field work experience, modeling methodologies, and mentoring in diverse cultural backgrounds. Her research goal is the development of syndromic surveillance systems for early detection of diseases.
