Marina Mancuso

Bio

I'm currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and working under the mentorship of Dr. Kaitlyn Martinez and Dr. Lauren Beesley VanDervort. I graduated with a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Arizona State University in 2023 under the supervision of Dr. Fabio Milner. My dissertation research focused on mathematically modeling West Nile Virus under the impacts of climate change, and previous work involved modeling vaccination and nonpharmaceutical interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic. My current work has shifted towards statistical and machine learning approaches for solving public health problems, and includes correcting the bias of reporting delays from SARS-CoV-2 sequences in COVID-19 nowcasts and forecasts, and classifying pathogens from the innate immune response. I am eager to expand my knowledge of different types of mathematical and statistical modeling, network with world-class researchers, and continue working on interdisciplinary teams to solve data-driven public health challenges.
