Tierney O'Sullivan

Bio

Tierney O’Sullivan is a PhD candidate in Population Health Sciences at the University of Utah, where her research focuses on advancing infectious disease modeling by integrating bacterial genomics with epidemiologic data. Her work spans multiple pathogens, with broad interests in understanding how infectious diseases spread across populations and healthcare settings. Her dissertation research centers on healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial-resistant bacterial pathogens. By leveraging whole-genome sequencing and computational modeling, she reconstructs pathogen transmission patterns to evaluate the effectiveness of infection prevention strategies and identify potential gaps in infection control. Her goal is to generate actionable insights that support public health decision-making and reduce the burden of healthcare-associated infections.
